Shrewsbury’s Andy Reese honored by friends…

Leaders of Tomorrow members (from left) Drew Morgera, Nicole Marshall, and Sam Levine dedicate the bench at Cyprian Keyes

SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – In a very simple ceremony, a group of students from the Shrewsbury High School Leaders of Tomorrow Group realized a vision today, when they dedicated a bench to honor the memory of their good friend Andy Reese. Andy was a Shrewsbury High School Junior, who was lost in a tragic car accident on December 7th.   Wanting to keep Andy in their hearts, group leaders Sam Levine and Nicole Marshall, have spent the past few months fund raising nearly two thousand dollars in donations from students and families here in Shrewsbury, to make their bench a reality.

Paraphrasing Kevin Costner, in one of my favorite movies, “Tin Cup,” the plaque simple reads, “I didn’t come here to lay up.”

With the support of his family, and the great administration at Cyprian Keyes Golf Course, the bench has been placed right behind the pro shop, overlooking the putting green where Andy spent many, many hours perfecting his art and preparing to lead Shrewsbury High School to the first state championship in golf.

Thanks to the generosity of the Shrewsbury families, enough money was raised to not only purchase this gorgeous bench and plaque, but to also make a substantial donation to Andy’s Attic, a local 501c3 organization.   Andy’s Attic was set up by Darrell and Lisa Reese to provide clothing to young teens in the Shrewsbury area.

To help out Andy’s Attic in their efforts, stop by their website at http://www.andysattic.org or send them an email info@andysattic.org if you’d like to arrange to drop off some gently used clothing.   Cash donations can be sent to Andy’s Attic, 8 Alden Ave, Shrewsbury MA 01545.
